TaleMonster Games, an Istanbul-based mobile game studio founded by former Peak Games veterans, has raised a $30 million Series A. The round was led by Arcadia Gaming Partners and Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), with participation from Point72 Ventures and General Catalyst.
The funding lands roughly eight months after TaleMonster closed a $7 million seed round, and the studio says it will use the new capital to keep building out its slate.
So far, the company’s portfolio starts with Match Valley, a title that blends traditional puzzle mechanics with hero and tower defence elements. TaleMonster says early performance has been strong, pointing to high engagement and longer average playtime.
CEO and co-founder Irem Sümer framed the bet as a response to changing player expectations: “Today’s players are far more experienced than before. Having played mobile games for years, they now seek greater depth in their games. We see a significant opportunity to meet this shift in expectations at scale.”
The studio is positioning that depth as a differentiator in a puzzle market it views as increasingly homogenous, where familiar design patterns can make it harder for new titles to stand out.
TaleMonster’s founding team previously worked on Toon Blast and Toy Blast at Peak Games, which was acquired by Zynga for $1.8 billion.
Arcadia founder and managing partner Akın Babayiğit said TaleMonster stands out for showing strength across multiple areas that can be uneven for early-stage studios, including monetisation and retention.
