The Oslo-based startup helps enterprises build production-ready AI applications without code, closing the gap between prototypes and real-world deployment.
Riff, an Oslo-based startup that enables non-technical teams to build and deploy AI applications, has raised €14 million in Series A funding led by Northzone, with participation from Skyfall Ventures, Maki.vc, Sondo, Global Founders Capital, and new investor Illusian, led by Supercell founder Ilkka Paananen. The round brings Riff’s total funding to €18.4 million.
Founded in 2021 as Databutton by Trygve Karper (CEO), Martin Skow Røed, and Viral Shah, Riff positions itself as a “vibe coding” platform, a term it coined to describe a no-code approach focused on enterprise-grade applications. While AI development tools have surged, most still struggle to translate experimentation into production. Riff bridges that gap, combining intuitive design with robust infrastructure so that business users can create data-rich, secure, and scalable apps.
“It’s really inspiring to see what people are achieving with Riff” said Trygve Karper, CEO and Co-founder. “Many come to us after weeks stuck in limbo after being promised the moon on hyped products. Having modular building blocks that drive immediate value lets our users see real success from day one.”
With more than 150,000 users and adoption by organizations including Twilio and Cognite, Riff enables teams to create internal applications and automations that directly improve operations in sectors such as manufacturing, financial services, logistics, healthcare, and consumer goods.
The company’s latest version introduces new tools to accelerate enterprise deployment: AI agents that automate data synchronization and multimedia workflows, native integrations with HubSpot, Google Drive, and Stripe, and background agents that allow users to make large updates or monitor systems in real time.
“Vibe coding is ushering in a transformational shift in software development” said Michiel Kotting, Partner at Northzone. “What makes Riff stand out is its focus on delivering production-ready tools that bridge AI’s last mile to real business impact.”
Riff’s platform is part of a broader push to make AI application building accessible beyond technical teams, aligning with a global movement toward low-code and AI-assisted development. The company plans to use the new capital to expand its user base and enhance enterprise integrations, aiming to bring its “vibe coding” approach to thousands more professionals worldwide.
