Heidelberg-based InsurTech Enzo secures €4M from EquityPitcher Ventures and Start-up BW to advance its AI-driven water damage prevention technology.
Enzo, a Heidelberg-based InsurTech focused on preventing household water damage, has raised an additional €4 million in seed funding, bringing its total seed financing to €6.2 million. The round was co-led by EquityPitcher Ventures and the Start-up BW Innovation Fund & MBG BW, with participation from Silence VC, better ventures, and several prominent business angels, including Gloria Seibert, Martina Steiner-Samwer, Peter Krachten, and Robert Levenhagen.
The fresh capital will fund AI platform development, expansion of insurance partnerships, and international market entry. “Our solution delivers dual value: economic efficiency through massive claim cost reductions, and ecological impact by preventing unnecessary repairs and CO₂ emissions” said Sascha Wolf, co-founder and CEO of Enzo.
Water damage represents the most costly segment in residential insurance, generating nearly €5 billion in claims annually in Germany alone. Beyond financial loss, these incidents carry a heavy environmental toll due to energy-intensive drying, materials waste, and carbon emissions from repairs.
Enzo’s AI-powered IoT platform uses patented sensors to monitor water systems in real time, detecting leaks and irregularities before visible damage occurs. Installation takes only minutes, and Enzo claims its detection is up to 40 times more precise than conventional meters. The company reports up to 70% lower claims costs for insurers and substantial resource savings for homeowners.
“Water is one of the largest insured risks, and Enzo offers a unique technological and strategic solution to dramatically reduce the enormous volume of claims” said Andrea Silberschmidt-Buhofer of EquityPitcher Ventures.
Founded in 2021 by Sascha Wolf and Marvin Follmann, Enzo is a brand of SafeHome GmbH, developing IoT- and AI-based solutions for sustainable water management. Its flagship technology, one.drop, automatically monitors water systems and reports defects to prevent damage and waste.
Enzo already works with insurers including Barmenia-Gothaer, Alte Leipziger, INTER, Hiscox, and SV SparkassenVersicherung, with active deployments across multiple European countries. “Enzo shows how technological innovation can solve a billion-euro problem, with a measurable impact on both the environment and insurance industry” said Tina Dreimann, co-founder and Managing Director of better ventures.
